【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtodetermineifajointthatissubjectedtoamechanicallyinducedcutwillresisttearpropagationduringnormaljointmovement.Asealantwithahighresistancetotearpropagationwilltypicallyperformbetterthanasealantwithalowresistancetotearpropagation.1.1Thistestmethodevaluatestheimpactofaninducedtearonasealantspecimenthatisdimensioned,curedaccordingtotheguidelinesinTestMethodC719andthensubjectedtoaconstantstrain.Itiseffectiveindifferentiatingbetweensealantsthatareusedindynamicjointssubjecttoabrasion,punctures,tears,orcombinationthereof.1.2Sincethistestmethodisfortheevaluationoftearpropagation,anadhesivefailuretothesubstratesprovidesnousabledataregardingtearpropagation.Thiswouldbeconsideredafailedtestandthatdatawouldbediscarded,oratleastseparatedfromtheotherdatafromspecimensthatdidnotexperienceanadhesivefailure.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4Thecommitteewithjurisdictionoverthisstandardisnotawareofanycomparablestandardspublishedbyotherorganizations.
